#15 - 2007 Mar 10th: Yardley December
First shoot with the 2nd of the really important models (Jessi being the first as she got me into this). Some models were extra important for various reasons but mostly if I feel in some way I really learned from them or grew as a photographer in some way due to my shooting with them. Yardley is definitely one of those. We only shot together between Mar 2007 and Jun 2008 but we did like 9 shoots total. I shot her before she was known so much herself and as she grew more known so did I. She doesn't model anymore but I still pester her sometimes to come shoot with me LOL
I was actually intimidated by her. I messaged her because I liked some of the photos I'd already seen of her but she had so many tattoos and looked tough so I was def a little nervous about shooting her! We talked for a couple weeks online and came up with our first ideas after I sent her pics of Tank Girl (the comic character by Jamie Hewlett and Alan Martin). She actually lived up North in one of the communities outside the Phoenix area so she had to drive down here for the shoot.
I wanted to shoot at the Tempe Boneyard again so we prepped by acquiring lots of colorful stuff like Fruit Loops cereal, cotton candy, etc. We met at a pizza joint near the location. I remember noticing her pull into the lot and she looked pissed LOL She was dealing with shitty traffic though!
Anyway, that first shoot was pretty awesome and colorful even though I hate the lighting in it. Took me a long time how to figure out shooting in natural light without getting shitty shadows and stuff across the model's face. Gah. But they were the first pics that started really getting comments and faces on this site! Also, she appears to be the first model where I started looking to music and comic boks for inspiration for ideas and photo titles!
She later moved to Phoenix and we shot tons more stuff over the next year and a half and at some point she became a GodsGirl. Anyway, always one of my favorites whom I learned TONS from being able to shoot with her!

Some highlights from other Yardley shoots:

My world is wonderful and frightening. Always something weird a-happening. You can't even imagine...
